School girl Miyuri Obara (Moeka Hoshi) is bullied mercilessly but finds relief in an unexpected friendship with Tsumugi (Serena Motola). Yet even as Miyuri's life turns around there's a lingering suggestion that something is not quite right.

Born in a small town in Japan, a young girl named Ai is sent to a cult commune by her religious maniac mother and lives there for seven long years. After the cult is exposed by the police, Ai starts a new stage of life, going to a normal school for the first time, but she can’t find her place to fit in there. Ai drops out from the school and society, spending her life living with a rock-bottom delinquent family full of gangsters and call girls. In a strange twist of fate she finds herself back in a new and normal life, living with a middle-class family, but her troubled life continues to follow her into more deep and seedy paths.

Documentary director Yuko portrays a school violence incident from three years ago that resulted in suicides, while she was teaching classes at her father’s cram school. As her documentary project progresses, Yuko discovers a hidden truth and becomes deeply involved in the lives of the families pained by that secret truth.

Suzuki Rara is left behind in the countryside due to mischief. She becomes a YouTuber, goes both crazy and offbeat. Wearing an eye-patch, loose track pants and often holding a sledgehammer she begins interacting with the locals, families and visitors.

Hozumi is a doctor and he is friends with manga artist Soeda. They both like Asako who works at a tropical fish shop. Hozumi eventually gives up Asako for his friend Soeda. Soeda and Asako decide to get married, but, after they get married, Soeda dates another woman and abuses Asako. He even pushes Asako to have an affair with Hozumi. Hozumi still has feelings for Asako, but his love changes to hatred.

September 20th. Sunny. I wonder if it bugs me so much because I can't see it. I've gotten totally obsessed with finding out what's inside that bump. It's all I think about on my way to school, in the bathtub, and when I'm trying to fall asleep at night. I mean, if I could just figure out what's inside that bump, I'm sure I could figure out lots of other things too.

The story unfolds with the main character, 25-year-old Miu Komaru, who lives on the outskirts of Fukuya City. Miu, who is single and cares for her grandfather Goro, works at the city hall but is isolated, and the only person who can snuggle up is Koji Mano, who works at the same office. One day, Mano commits suicide from the roof of the city hall, but it was the death after being ordered to "falsify documents" unreasonably. Goro gives a shocking mission to Miu, who returns home in grief, to "take away the data of the falsification instruction in order to take a lie," and Miu secretly stands up with "things that are not usually noticeable" as a weapon. —HateHoollywoodNetflix

Twenty-three-year-old Neya Ryouka (Neya Ryouka) becomes an assistant director because she wants to be a film director, but she has been unable to direct any of her own films and has been unable to express her feelings to Keita (Mizushi Ahiumu), who she has been in love with since college. Ryouka is hesitant to work or fall in love, but when her senior, Satomi (Kobayashi Saya), confesses her feelings to her, she decides to say goodbye to her half-baked self by becoming a film director.

Tatsuya Ishii won the JFF Special Award at the Pia Film Festival Award 2018 for Subarashiki Sekai. Here, he chases the concept of true love through the self-documentary format as he revisits time spent with an old lover. They had been dating for two years and she was in a mental ward of a hospital after the breakdown of the relationship. Ishii recorded their relationship while together until it got too bad. Then, one day, after a call from her, he visited her house with a camera in hand and talked to her to find out she had lost two years of her memory.

Kei Tamai, an assistant producer at a regional TV station, is trying to have a baby with her live-in boyfriend Yoshi. He says he’ll marry her once she gets pregnant, having given up his dream of making it big as a comedian, and frequently skips work, which has gradually cooled Kei’s feelings for him. She secretly takes contraceptives, and devotes herself to her job. One day, Kei’s irritation with the whining Yoshi reaches a peak, and she starts to walk out on him. In desperation, he tries to stop her by dropping a bombshell: “I’m pregnant, so let’s get married.” As Kei’s career and relationship go off the rails, she is forced to confront her own obliviousness.

Debut feature film release from cutting-edge director Ono Daisuke, who works with the filmmaking team Tanoshii Jidai (Fun Era). Ono himself plays the boyfriend Tatsuo in this cynical depiction of a couple's love spat. Ayako (Neya Ryoka) belongs to a small theatre troupe, and she is drinking at a bar with her friend Miki (Mayanagi Minae). Then, her boyfriend Tatsuo (Ono), who she is on the verge of ditching, shows up uninvited. Socially inept Tetsuo ruins the mood, and he and punch-drunk Ayako proceed to vent their mutual discontent and hurl invectives at each other.
