The woman is now in state of shock and mentally paralysed. A murder case is registered and investigation take place. Susi (Kanchana) a young college girl comes to her home for vacation along with her friends. She lives with younger paternal uncles Kamalanathan and Vimalanathan who are the younger brothers of the victim and her aunt who was supposed to be the victim in the hands of the murderer. Susi meets Baskar (Ravichandran), a singer and both of them are attracted to each other at first sight.

The plot revolves around the wrong conviction of a business man and the efforts taken by the protagonist, a lawyer, to find the truth. The portrayal of the characters is similar in many ways to Malayalam cinema's investigative thrillers. The suspense is well maintained until the climax with little clue to the audience on the identity of the real culprit. The arguments in court were mostly inspired from 12 Angry Men (1957).

Sivandha Mann, also spelt as Sivantha Mann, is a 1969 Indian Tamil language film written, produced and directed by C.V. Sridhar that stars Sivaji Ganesan, Kanchana and M. N. Nambiar in the lead roles, while other actors like R. Muthuraman, Nagesh and S. V. Ranga Rao play supporting roles. It is notably the first Tamil film to be shot extensively in locations outside India, and later Tamil and Telugu films "fell to the French charm" after this. The film was a major success. A Hindi remake titled Dharti starred Rajendra Kumar and Waheeda Rehman in the lead, along with Sivaji Ganesan in a cameo role.
