In a city in Southern India traditional rivalry has always existed between the students of Pachaiyappas and Loyola Colleges respectively. In a nasty inter college riot Arun saves Karthik's life. So in return Karthik lets Arun win in a soccer game because he thinks Arun can't take losses easily.

Two childhood best friends, who does not share any love interest, get married to two other people. But, problem arises when his wife doubts their friendship and his friend's husband's father asks him break their friendship.

Afterward, Sakthi and Raani fall in love with each other. Soon, Varalakshmi's brother Sethupathi tries to rob the temple's costly things. On his first attempt, Sethupathi's henchmen fail because of Sakthi. The second time, he robs the temple's Kalasam. He then traps the innocent Sakthi and Periya Ayya dismisses him. Sakthi finally comes to know the identity of his parents : Dharmaraj and Seethalakshmi. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.
