The film opens with a ‘Manthravadi’ (Thilakan) an evil magician (Pithamagan Mahadevan) to obey to his commands and make spiriting away a friendly ghost money through crime. Meanwhile a group of kids and their benefactors are held hostage in a circus camp by the baddies, who has taken over the show. Ancy (Kaavyamadavan) is coming back from London, to take charge of the circus company founded by her father Philipose (Janardhanan),who was found murdered. On reaching there, she is told that her father was stabbed to death by a bike-jumper named Jimmy (Mammootty). In fact Jimmy, his foster father Krishnan (Innocent), aide Sisupalan (Suraj Venjarammood) and a gang of street children were all invited by Philipose to join his circus group. Meanwhile the ghost (Mammootty, in his other role) appears, becomes friendly with the kids and takes a more stylish shape of Jimmy. Thanks to the ghost, Ancy realizes that Jimmy was innocent in the whole issue. Now the battle between the good and evil.

He decides to commit suicide so that his parents can use the insurance money to repay the debts, but he is saved by a fisherman named Gangadharan (Cochin Haneefa) and his employee Ramanan (Harisree Ashokan). When they notice Unni drowning, Unni pretends to be deaf and mute so that he can fake his death and the insurance money reaches his family. Gangadharan however has a debt of his own, to a Punjabi family of money lenders who have settled in Kerala. He is forced to make Unni and Ramanan to work at their home until he can repay it. A series of interesting events follow after Unni meets Pooja (Mohini) at the house, who is deaf and mute.

The film starts by displaying an antic of Keshavan (Thilakan) who is an inmate of the Kakkanad Mental Hospital. By profession Benny is an artist, Krishnankutty is a mechanic and Keshavan had retired from military service. The late Hakeem Rawther too plays as an inmate in a cameo role. The trio chance to come across a newspaper report that Amitabh Bachchan is visiting Ernakulam City for film shooting, near the place they stay. They are soon joined by Venu (Siddique), as the brother of Balan (N.N.Balakrishnan) who takes him to the mental hospital. Venu is a good singer but has a compulsive obsession to singing. Driven by a desire to see Amitabh Bachchan the four of them manage to escape from the mental hospital that night by ripping off the cell warden Ameen (Mala Aravindan). They reach Ernakulam city in a bus, and hilarity starts
