The movie is about a psychologist, Tuong Minh who provides psychotherapy to An Nhien, a young female writer suffering from anxiety disorder. Nhien states that she’s obsessed by a certain girl. Strangely, the girl she mentioned is the main character in her first novel, The Whispering. However, during the treatment, Minh steadily immerses himself in Nhien’s story and her obession. He starts to see nightmares regularly and have hallucination. He even finds himself obessed by a girl. Gradually, he isn’t able to distinguish between reality and imagination. The obsession which becomes more serious makes him confused and almost insane. Though he denies his psychological disorder, the increasing obession causes him to kill himself unconsciously.
