The story revolves around three unemployed people who get involved in a kidnapping saga due to a case of mistaken identity.

Unni (Dileep) has many debts and no way to repay them. He decides to commit suicide so that his parents can use the insurance money to repay the debts, but he is saved by a fisherman named Gangadharan (Cochin Haneefa) and his employee Ramanan (Harisree Ashokan). When they notice Unni drowning, Unni pretends to be deaf and mute so that he can fake his death and the insurance money reaches his family. Gangadharan however has a debt of his own, to a Punjabi family of money lenders who have settled in Kerala. He is forced to make Unni and Ramanan to work at their home until he can repay it. A series of interesting events follow after Unni meets Pooja (Mohini) at the house, who is deaf and mute.

A singer Pappan (Rahman) is killed in a bike accident, but Yamaraj the Lord of Death (Thilakan) realizes that Pappan has a few more days to live. Yamarajan allows Pappan to enter into bodies of other dead people including that of Inspector Devdas (Mohanlal) in a bid to tell his girlfriend Sarina (Lizy) that Pappan is dead, and to look forward to someone else in life.

Musician & odd-job man Soorya Narayanan (Suresh Gopi) is lured into playing the husband for mentally depressed Jyothika (Devayani), by Jyothika's millionaire father Ramachandra Menon (N.F. However, Soorya gets in a bind when a rich Sridevi neglects him & a married Jyothika shows improvement & cares for him.

A group of friends head out into the jungle to capture a wanted deadly fugitive, Korappan to get a cash reward offered.
