She went to Gharib's house to take refuge with him at a time when Fakhri was writing to Gharib asking him to find him a bride. Gharib presented the idea to Amira and she agreed to it; Fakhri married her by proxy so she could get away from her father and his violence. Over time Amira discovered she loved Gharib and that he had the same feelings for her. Fakhri arrived in Cairo to get his bride and learned the whole story; he divorced Amira so his lifetime friend Gharib could marry her.
