Jayaraman (Mohanlal) is born as a blind man but with heightened senses of smell, sound and touch. He is trained in the martial art of Kalaripayattu. He works as an elevator operator in an apartment where many reputed people live. One day he happens to encounter a murder in a flat. The killer escapes and Jayaraman is charged with the murder. To prove his innocence to the law, Jayaraman must now find and kill the true murderer.

The movie begins with a glimpse in the life of Unni and his friends, where they enjoy their serene village life. The locale boasts of open paddy fields, coconut plantations, sacred groves and takes the viewer to the good old bygone era where things were still simpler. Unni is the apple of his mother's eyes (played by Devi Ajith). After having a great summer vacation, Unni and his friends move to the 6th grade after the new academic year begins. Unni loves his school life mainly because of his crush Riya (played onscreen by Meenakshi). Unni feels threatened by the newcomer in his class - Roney (played by new comer Master Naaif), who happens to be talented in various disciplines of art. Soon they lock horns and are in competition.

An ancient treasure goes missing from a palace, causing the Prince to go on an adventurous hunt. The famous Vishnu Puram Palace is home to an ancient treasure, full of diamonds. While the royalty prides itself on it, the treasure attracts the attention of a lot of people. One day, the treasure is reported to be lost and the prince sets out to find it.

The story starts with the inauguration of the first-ever Mechanical batch in an engineering campus. The batch consists of boys only. Later in the second year of the department, a girl joins and becomes the only girl to be a part of their batch. As the story evolves, the girl grabs all their love and attention and becomes the QUEEN of the batch.

This miserly attitude of Paulettan has its reverberations primarily on his family members his mother Thressiamma, wife Rosamma, and their two daughters Sara and Sneha. Sara falls in love with Amal, the son of a Gulf Malayali. Amal leads a lavish life and Sara's love is a revolt against her father's thrifty behavior. The resulting incidents in the life of Paulettan and his family are plotted in Paulettante Veedu.

Amar, Akbar and Anthony are close friends living in Kochi. They enjoy a carefree life. Their perceptions and beliefs get shattered with an unexpected event and the resulting story forms the plot of the movie.

The movie revolves around the family of Aby. His wife Sara, and their daughter Riya . Aby is a bank employee. Sara was brought up in an orphanage and is lucky to have an understanding husband, Aby. When Aby gets a transfer to Kolkata, the family shifts to Kolkata where they have to encounter certain unexpected tragedies. How they face and overcome these adversaries forms the crux of the story.

The deceit of her father's personal manager had left a young Anna Wilfred orphaned and penniless years ago. Now, the time has come for her to avenge the untimely demise of her family, and win back all the fortune that is rightfully hers. But in order to achieve her goal, Anna will have to cleverly scheme her way through the same web of deceit her parents fell prey to.

The film focuses on a very conservative Namboodiri family in a very regressive social milieu. Ishti centres around two main characters, a 70-year-old Ramavikraman Namboodiri, who is a Vedic scholar who preserves the fire from a Somayagam to light his funeral pyre, and Sreedevi, his young, third wife. Sreedevi stands up against orthodoxy. She manages to inspire her husband’s son from another marriage to read and write. The conflict between these characters and those who revolve around their lives is what the film is generally about. It then also becomes a strong comment on the attempt to balance worldly desires and the rigidity of caste and tradition.

Aana Mayil Ottakam is an anthology film. This is not really very common in Malayalam industry. But this concept is going on since ages and even legendary filmmakers like Satyajit Roy has tried this genre. It is always very interesting to see a collection of great short movies. You cannot get bored watching a movie like this. It is good to see that producers are interested in investing innovative concepts like this. Aana Mayil Ottakam is a compilation of short movies with some of the biggest names of Malayalam film industry.
