The movie begins as an old English woman Amy Wilkinson (Carole Trungmar) almost at her death bed in London, wants to come down to Chennai in search of a young man Parithi (Arya) whom she last saw on 15 August, 1947 to return Thali necklace (sacred thread tied around the neck of the bride by her groom) of his mother, which he gives as a sign of stating that she belongs to India and nobody can separate them. She wants to return that back to him, as she gets married to other man in her home town and it no more belongs to her.

Karthi's lover Indu is kidnapped by her uncle, who works as an underling to Paraman, a gangster. Meanwhile, Shiva, his friend, murders Paraman's brother, Bala, with whom he has a history. Now, the gangster is baying for blood...

The movie revolves around the incidents that happen within a time span of 24 hours. Neil John Samuel (Fahadh Faasil) is the sales manager of Benz showroom. He gets a bag of money, while he returns home after the New Year party. The bag and the money originally belongs to a wealthy businessman Issac Aanakkadan (Renji Panicker), who intends to buy some precious diamonds from a group of people. Issac begin the mission to get back his lost money. At the same time, notorious goon Makudi Das (Joju George) and his group follows Neil to steal the money from him. Neil, who realizes that somebody is following him and the money in his hands, elopes to a remote village of Tamil Nadu in a truck. Rest forms the crux of the story.

Jilebi is the down-to-earth story about a sour-sweet confrontation between a village youngster Sreekuttan and his city-bred nephewsSreekuttan, is a village guy whose life is happily confined to his farm and his pet crops. Far away, in the Dubai city , trouble brews for him in the form of his nephew and niece.

The friendship of five fun-loving youngsters and spreads the message that “the goodness in your heart never goes unrewarded”.

Karthi and Riya elope one early morning to Ooty, fearing that the elders in the family will not accept their inter-religious relationship. They return to their respective homes after a couple of days after having a fight. They convince their loved ones that they hate each other and vow never to see each other again. The film would then trace the eventual course of their lives.
