Mujeres infieles

Mexican movie about women cheating on their husbands. Three segments, I liked the first one, but not the other two. The first had a very good ending, the second was 'weird' in lack of a better word, and the third was a little violent, I didn't expect it from a movie talking about 'cheating on'. This is of course, my humble personal opinion.
The Bricklayers

When a worker is found murdered on the construction side, the investigation swiftly turns from things criminal to the political circumstances surrounding the building itself. Widespread corruption and neglect by the builder himself are seen to have brought the situation about. Much of the movie is filmed using hand-held cameras, and the majority of the dialogue is in the difficult-to-understand and very slangy Spanish dialect of Mexico City's bricklayers.

In the same train travels Luis, undocumented young person to whom Paca allows him to spend the night in the room where she lives with her sick father. Paca's relationship with Julio, a mogul without remorse, offers her financial support, but Luis gives her the tenderness and love she does not have with Julio.

An engineer moves into a bungalow on the beach next to a widow and her two boys. The older boy has a bit of an Oedipal complex and seems to like his mom. Of course, that means that no other man can come and break up their "happy" family.

Ideas, hopes, ways-of-life and customs have changed, and Mexicans of the nineties are strangers for a man sleeping since 1971. Lauro will have to deal with the changes brought by the History, and will have to accept that the future is never as we imagined it when we were young.

Life seems to smile on them until one day, when Maria travels to another city, the couple's situation will be overshadowed by an unfortunate event.

Jose Alonso plays a man whose lower limbs, including his sexual organs, were savaged by a Great Dane in boyhood. Unfortunately for him, his sex drive developed unabated and his frustration at being unable to culminate his relationships with women eventually drives him to drastic action because he has no alternative or compensating interests.

A son full of guilt and recriminations. A little kid who soaks up all the tension in the house, like a sponge, and a self-effacing mother who would like to go away and leave everything behind.

One woman lives waiting for his son who is a sailor. She hasn't seen him for years although he writes to her a lot. The woman shares the letters and her grief with a co-worker and friend. This last woman begins to idealize her friend's son.
