Two cops undercover trailing a fugitive enter a hamlet inside a dense forest. At every turn, they encounter a mysterious character who further misleads them into new labyrinths. Rights become wrong and wrongs become right. Perplexed, unable to figure their way out and completely losing track of the time and day, they eventually end up doing the same crimes committed by the fugitive. A window opens to the other side, somewhere between the real and the surreal world, transporting them back to The Light.

The story of Jawan of Vellimala revolves around a high-range village called Vellimala , a dam in this village and the people living there. The villagers of Vellimala consider the dam as a sign of their pride. Gopi Krishan, the central character, who took voluntary retirement from military service, reaches Vellimala as a labourer. Varghese is a government employee at the Dam site and Koshi Oommen, another character reaches there for some personal need. These three play the main three male characters in the film. Mamta Mohandas plays the role of a project officer at the Dam site and she also works for the development of the society. The story reveals the incidents happening when these characters and the villagers meet together.

Shadiya Akbar IPS, a renowned police officer, addresses a group of trainees by narrating a memorable instance from her career. The episode and the characters of the case offer her a valuable lesson in a current case, that extends beyond the litigation.
