The film, the Director and the three actresses were all nominated for the FAMAS and the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA), but only the child actor, Angelito, won as best child actor.

Barbara then returns to the Philippines to mourn over the death of her sister and to look after her traumatized niece.

The story is about a cabaret (a dance hall with taxi dancers) which opens in a fishing village sparking a major ruckus. It tells of a girl, who, because she is poor, joins the cabaret to be able to survive and support her younger sister (Andrea Bautista, the producer’s daughter) and brother (Bong Revilla who is at present an action superstar and Philippine Senator). The hypocrisy of the country’s rural life comes to fore. A visiting singer becomes the hapless girl’s knight in shining armor.
